Stefun's awesome year's end

I asked for some water for Christmas and he heard me…

Some friends of the 'Marmak team' (Southwest of France) were there to celebrate the New Year and go skiing in the Jura, but after heavy rainfalls the snow was melting in the Doubs valley and the water level rose slowly on December 24th. It was a good opportunity to look for some new spots the morning and paddle the Malate Wave the afternoon…

After Santa Claus's visit, a a good water level on the 25th made the Malate Wave as good as it can be and Mat Dumoulin and Coldo took advantage of the 450 cubic during Christmas. Here is a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxmN5Wy9fpo

One week later, just before the New Year the water level was still rising: more than 500 cubics on the Doubs River!!

So we went to 'la Malate' with friends. I arrived first at the place and when I saw the wave… Ohhhhhh my gosh!!! It was huge and I immediately thought that 'La Scie' was on the way to work that day.

The other guys didn’t want paddle on the Malate wave (maybe it was too big ;-)) and wanted to go to La Scie instead … I said, ok guys, I just do two or three runs and we go there afterwards!

The green was perfect but the hole was so close to it, fat and dangerous!!!!

Then we went to La Scie and there we found a perfect water level for a nice session on that wave with the Marmak team, Valentin Corote, Boulox and Kiki…

Check out the pics.

CAUTION!!! The Malate wave is running (that hasn't changed after they destroyed the stone dam construction - cool !!). But there is still a navigation ban, because the footbridge hasn't been finished yet…  So, it's possible to paddle on weekends and holidays.

Many thanks to Jo Suc, and boulox for the pics and footage.
Have a great New Year!

See you on water

Stefun
