After what seems like a really long and uneventful spring term at school back in the U.K, the overnight drive to the southern French Alps was a shear pleasure. I was so happy to get out of the flat dry areas of the U.K and hit the mountains and melt water of the Durance area in France.
The past three weeks have refuelled my craving and passion for all things paddling. Being based in the Durance area, I have been able to fit in avariety of paddling, from fast frantic freestyle sessions at the Rabioux, where the wave knocks the wind out of you and blows away any cobwebs, greatcruise and flowing runs down the Durance gorge and some humbling slalomtraining sessions with the French coach from La Plagne.
Like always in kayaking the mix of people has also been as interesting as the rivers: American clients, hilarious university students from the U.K and the classic German and French kayaking and holiday makers all came together, in order to storm the rivers and roads of this classic area.
All in all itıs been a refreshing three weeks, I'm super stoked on paddling again and the rest of the summer plans are looking sweet. I'm fired up, to be fit enough now to really begin to train some slalom, so lets see how it goes!
